United Airlines HDTV Shoot In Two Cities Prepped in One Week

As Production Manager/Line Producer for United Airlines' Creative Services department, I coordinated and negotiated the crew, talent and prop logistics for shoots in San Diego and San Francisco in a challenging one-week turnaround. Thank you's go out to all involved in making this project a huge success especially the PR and Operations Departments of the San Francisco International Airport!

Agency, Fallon McElligott, handled creative hiring Writer/Director, Mark Carter, out of Los Angeles and used United Airlines in-house production department as the production company. A base crew with HD gear owned by United Airlines traveled to each city picking up additional crew and trucks in each location which included the San Diego and San Francisco International Airports.

The biggest challenge was shooting in San Francisco's brand new International Terminal which was not officially open yet to the public. This was a double-edged sword as we didn't have to deal with the public masses, but did have to contend with the challenges of nothing yet being officially open, working around construction/operations logistics, and constant air-raid fire-testing alarms which were not on any particular schedule. In addition, San Fran had the largest crew of approximately 20 with 25-35 talent each day including principals, extras and United Airlines employees from their talent pool.
